Do you keep hearing your marketing company or marketing department beg you to produce more content? Have you actually wondered what they mean by ‘content’?
Many businesses assume that when we speak about content in marketing, we are referring to blog articles and new content on a website, and while these are ALWAYS useful, we don’t always mean that type of content when we say ‘content’.
There is no getting away from the fact that web content should be a critical part of your marketing strategy, and you should be producing new pieces on a weekly basis (if you want to move up the rankings and out perform your competitors).
It is a crowded space out there, so you need to be doing more and working harder than your competitors do. If you want to appear in search for more keywords, you need to get Google to start considering you as an authority on your subject matter.
You can ONLY so that with lots of daily content.
But, moving away from physical web content, there are lots of other ways to produce content and ‘seed’ it through social media.
Let’s start by looking at the main forms of Social Media you can use to help you produce more content.
Facebook is the obvious one. Many of us have personal accounts and if you run a business, or do the marketing for a business, you will almost certainly have access to a business page as well.
Instagram is the medium that is growing at the fastest pace but, it is a different ‘tone of voice’ to Facebook, and while it allows you to post to Facebook and Twitter at the same time, it is not a good strategy as each platform has its own style, tone and even image and post size.
Twitter is another platform that you can share content on and while it is true to say its use has diminished over the years, it is still an important platform used by many people every day.
LinkedIn is a more ‘professional’ platform so again you might need to adjust your message to suit the audience that uses it. There are many company bosses and professional people using LinkedIn so it has a great audience, if you leverage your posts in the right way.
Google My Business is another great way to share some new content. It is particularly useful for local search and is known to help increase engagement and generate more contacts.
Creating content
When we say you need to produce content, we mean a post in each is equal to a piece of content. So straight away you can see that one post in each medium, plus a story in Facebook and Instagram allows you to create 6 bits of new content straight away.
In fact, it will probably take you less that 30 minutes to come up with some compelling posts and share them.
Now do this again later in the day and you have suddenly created 12 new content pieces for your business. Mix this in with the occasional live video, post in a community, video upload to YouTube, Google My Business post, etc and you are producing content in the double figures, EVERY DAY!
Content is King so make sure you do this daily and in time, you will start to reap the benefits.
Of course, if you need help with any of this, we are ready to step in. We create and share dozens of pieces of content every single day for clients.
