Google Bard

Google is launching Bard, its very own ChatGPT. So, let’s start with looking at what chatGPT is.

It is all about AI (artificial intelligence) and ChatGPT is something that will interact with you when you ask questions, but in a conversational manner, unlike the current version of chatbots, which can get stumped very easily if they are not supplied with the relevant information.

ChatGPT will be able to answer additional questions related to an initial query and even admit when it has made a mistake. Because it will employ ‘intelligence’ (AI) it will also be able to challenge if something appears to be stated that is incorrect and even reject a request if it feels it is not appropriate.

The Google ChatGPT is going to be called Bard. It has been spoken about for many weeks and finally we get to see a little more about how Google intend to implement it in search and across their other products.

We expect over the months / years that Bard will become more advanced but initially Bard will be the ‘experimental’ AI conversation product by Google. The aim is that Bard will be able to answer questions that might have multiple answers. They intend to roll it out over the coming weeks, even though right now it is currently being tested by a selected number of users.

Google said, “Soon, you’ll see AI-powered features in Search that ‘distil’ complex information and multiple perspectives into easy-to-digest formats, so you can quickly understand the big picture and learn more from the web”

They went on to explain how their ChatGPT will work by giving an example of a question that someone might ask.

“Is piano or guitar easier to learn and how much practice does each need?”

It will deliver answers from sources like blogs from people who play both piano and guitar. It can even dig deeper into the question with related topics about how to actually get started as a beginner.

Below is how Google shared that it might look.

Right now, we don’t know exactly how this will impact organic search but one thing is for sure, if your content is not out there and does not have good SEO, then you might be even further out of the picture.
